Strategic Management Summary Paper Content Requirements

•You will be summarizing the strategic management principles that you have learned in the course as well as other management principles in other courses by using an existing company and showing how this company is applying (or possibly not applying) these principles.

•Please use up to 5 additional references

The format for the paper is as follows:
Introduction
Section One:
For your company selected, identify and discuss the following:
A.  Company Mission Statement
B.  Social Responsibility
C.  Company Stakeholders
D.  Remote External Environment
•    Economic
•    Social
•    Political
•    Technological
•    Ecological
E.  How do competitive forces shape strategies for your company? The essence of strategy formulation is coping with competition.  Define the five basic contending forces (Michael Porter) from the text. Discuss your organization’s strategic position in each area.
Section Two:
A.  Utilizing a SWOT Analysis, identify the following features for your organization:
•    Strengths
•    Weaknesses
•    Opportunities
•    Threats
B. Based upon your SWOT conclusions, identify and name one grand strategy and support your choice.
C. Assume that your company will grow in the future through strategic acquisition. Identify and compare/contrast the two primary approaches of Portfolio and Synergy, their strengths and weaknesses as applied to your company.
Section Three:
Utilizing your own strategic management philosophy, text resources and personal history, identify and support your answers to the following:
A. Two significant short-term strategic recommendations for your company.
B.  Identify two functional tactics you recommend for each of these short-term strategic recommendations made.
Section Four:
A.  Leadership  is central to creating sustainability in any strategy direction or change initiative. Identify the role of leadership in your organization and how it encourages or discourages strategic efforts. Use the text as your basic resource.

Summary and Conclusions
Section Six:
Demonstrate what it is you have learned as you applied the course material to your company and how this impacts your thinking for the future. This should only be one or two paragraphs.
