Semester Three project:
You are required to design an Orbital elliptical bike as your workshop assignment for this semester and continue updating and remodeling the same project throughout semester four so carefully select your group of three or four students and make sure that you must keep the same group next semester.
Instructions:
- Select all the components required.
- Make a bill of materials giving all the required specifications. Make sure every required item is included for including frame, gears, wheels, attachments, fasteners etc.
- Safety of operation is paramount and all safety aspects must be covered.
- Suppliers names, model or part numbers should be specified.
- Create detailed drawing of the assembly.
For you to gain competency:
- The bike should work.
- Operation should be safe, ergonomic and efficient.
- The design should be cost effective (while you will not do a costing, you should, wherever possible use the most cost effective components).
- Submission of this project is compulsory in order to pass the unit.
Part A
Select the following components:
- Frame.
- Bolts and nuts.
- Column and transversal section.
- Belts or chains protection plate.
- Wheels.
- Gears and brakes.
- Spindle and adjustable seat.
Part B
Prepare the report that must include the following:
- Summary.
- Introduction.
- List of components.
- Assumptions.
- Calculations.
- Health and Safety.
- References.
- Appendix (Attach drawings from other unit).
- Appendix (Attach pages of catalogue and highlight the selected item).

Note:
Just to confirm the new attendance rules:
Any student who misses three or more sessions of ACK Mechanical Project will fail the unit. Furthermore, no sick notes can be accepted.
Any student who show up late more than 10 minutes will be consider late and if you have two late arrival to workshop will be count as one absent.
